iPearl mCover Hard Shell Case for 11.6 Deals

This review is from: iPearl mCover Hard Shell Case for 11.6" Samsung Chromebook (Wi-Fi or 3G) laptop - CLEAR (Personal Computers)
Love this cover! I searched for a long time to find a cover for my Samsung Chromebook. It's a perfect fit, snaps on easy, and gives my Chromebook the protection it needs. My choice was the clear, it's hard to even tell there's a cover on. I received my cover so quickly, this company is great!

I cannot say enough positive things about this case...not only does it fit like a second skin and provides excellent protection against scratches as well as minor drops, but it has built-in little "feet" that unfold and fits very ergonomically on a laptop "lap pad" (as well as on a desktop, but I use mine primarily on my lap). It makes my second-hand Chromebook look like brand-new...

I first purchased this case in black for our chromebook. We liked the chromebook so much we bought a second one and a second case. The second case fit on the chromebook like normal until you opened it. The case would not stay seated and kept lifting off. When I contacted iPearl they immediately offered a refund as long as I paid to have it sent back. Huh? I buy not one but 2 of your products one is defective and I have to pay to return it to you?

This review is from: iPearl mCover Hard Shell Case for 11.6" Samsung Chromebook (Wi-Fi or 3G) laptop - Orange (Personal Computers)
This case fits the 11.6 chromebook very well. It doesn't add too much bulk to the computer, and it still fits nice and snug in my backpack. The range of colors available is great and I am highly pleased with my orange one!
The stands on the bottom of the case come in handy.
Would recommend to any chromebook user!

I'm not sure the cover really protects against anything. It's more of a fashion statement than anything else if not for the two little legs that make typing a dream! Normally, after a certain amount of time typing my wrists can't help but get sore. But with the incline this case provides that's no longer an issue.

It's almost perfect. I would have given it 5 stars if it had not been for one weak spot. One of the hooks that clips onto the hinge warps up just enough not to seat properly in the crevice between the base and the screen. However, I modified it by filing a taper on the leading edge. This encasement offers the device THE best protection against scratches. I haven't had it long and have already received some scratches on the case. The case is easily replaceable at this remarkably low price and available in an array of colors. The case is very durable right down to its best feature.....the snap out props. It puts the device at a perfect incline that needs no adjustment. The ventilation on the bottom is really not necessary because this device runs very cool. It may serve as a moisture vent if any moisture gets trapped. On the subject of moisture, the bag that it was shipped in makes a nice "raincoat" for those foul weather days. I am really impressed with this product and will probably by another color!

The top doesn't fit correctly, specifically the rounded right snap that is supposed to protect and guide the machine as it opens and closes- very disappointing. Nonethess, the "kickstands" on the back are nice, as is the coloring.

This review is from: iPearl mCover Hard Shell Case for 11.6" Samsung Chromebook (Wi-Fi or 3G) laptop - Blue (Personal Computers)
Although this review is based on the black cover for the 11.6" Samsung Chromebook - there are a total of nine colors of this product available. All are exactly the same except for the color. iPearl makes a variety of custom covers for tablets and laptops.
QODVU / RATINGS
QUALITY / 8: Remember, this IS plastic. However, it appears well made. The matte finish on the black cover does show fingerprints where it was touched - unless your fingers are super-squeaky clean. I think they might show less on the clear cover. For other offered colors, this might be a concern.
OPERATION & FUNCTION / 8: Once attached, the cover does not interfere with opening or closing the Chromebook. Since the cover functions to protect the Chromebook - I would have to give the function aspect a lower rating from what the company seems to imply on Amazon. It will protect it from scratches - my main concern, but don't expect it to protect it much if you drop your Samsung. It is not thick or padded enough to prevent the shock of a drop or damage. The company states it will protect your Chromebook and that the covers are shatterproof. If you read through it too fast, you will think it will protect it from major bumps or even a drop. The company seems to say it will protect the corners and it might protect it some from slight bumps while carrying it.
DESIGN / 8: The cover is actually in two parts. Each part was wrapped in plastic and placed in an Amazon box when it arrived - well packaged. One piece snaps onto the screen, and the other onto the keyboard. This was very easy - requires no instructions. Just don't try to force them - make sure the small snap "tags" are in the right place. I took my time. The cover adds to the weight and thickness of the Samsung, noticeably so. The feet are a little difficult to open (hard to get a good hold with your fingers)...best have good fingernails! I am not sure how long they will hold up but appear to be good for plastic. Covers fit tight - no looseness or gaps noted. Bottom is very well vented to dissipate heat, even though there are no vents on the Chromebook itself. Nor does the bottom block the speakers (there are cut-outs). An added bonus: It appears that the plastic cover helps reinforce the screen...and helps reduce the pressure (from possible bending) on the screen when opening.
VALUE / 7: I think the company could shave off $3-$5 as $20 for two pieces of plastic seems a bit much, albeit a custom fit. Certainly the free shipping doesn't cost the company that much. I think $16.99 and these things would sell much faster. Even though I do not give "5s" freely, I think I could boost my personal rating to a "5" if the price were lowered and the company implied claims were toned down a little. Still, I think it will do for me what I require of it. It does not look as cheap as I expected it would, probably due to the excellent fit and the matte look. Fingerprints might be a concern for some and they do not rub off easily. But to be honest, I am not sure how they would resolve this.
UPDATES (Reserved): After a couple of days of using this product, I am relatively happy with it. My only concern might be that the bottom cover may not allow heat to dissipate as much as without it, even though there are plenty of vent holes cut into the bottom cover. It seems to be warmer when I have it in my lap though I am still using it. The cover is not as good as my wife's Apple rubber-like iPad cover, but since something like that is not available for this product at this writing, it's the next best thing. Still a keeper.

I bought this for my son's chromebook. This is the first year his school are using chromebooks, and so we wanted to protect it so it wouldn't get ruined. My son saw this and wanted to try it. It's lightweight, a great price, and the seller shipped it right away! I'd highly recommend both this item & this seller.

This review is from: Samsung Series 9 NP900X4C-A06US 15-Inch Premium Ultrabook (Ash Black) (Personal Computers)
I upgraded from a laptop that was five years old so almost anything would seem amazing next to my old dino. But, I think I can say that unless you are a hardcore gamer or for some reason you feel that you absolutely need an optical disk drive, you will be very satisfied with this laptop just as I am. Yeah some people are being really nit-picky about viewing angles and such but seriously, it's not an issue unless you're a paraplegic and can't adjust the screen angle (you have to do it every time you open the laptop anyway). I am very, very happy with the battery life. I can use it at school for several hours and still return home with 20% battery left...it's so nice not to have to bring a charger all the time. It's incredibly slim and light. I get compliments on it all the time. The only thing I'm not super excited about is the hard-drive capacity; it's marketed at about 125gb but when you open the computer for the first time you quickly find out that after the OS, you only have about 60gb for yourself and the SSD is not easily upgrade-able like on older laptops. Nothing an external can't fix and it'll probably keep me from cluttering it up anyway. But at the end of the day, all these things are just minor trade-offs for having an otherwise very slick, slim, and light laptop.

I read the reviews on this laptop and decided that it honestly couldn't be that bad, and I was right.
I understand what the reviewers are saying. The colors DO wash out if you tilt the screen forward or backward. However, tilting the display far enough to uncomfortably wash out the screen poses bigger problems, like the fact that the screen is at a horribly awkward angle. It was fine out of the box, but I calibrated the display (took 3 min) and now it's quite good.
Back to the good, this laptop is THIN. It's hard to appreciate its size until you truly see it. At 15 inches, it's easily one of (if not the) thinnest 15 inchers on the market. It doesn't hurt that it's a looker too.
The windows experience index is 5.9, with the lowest being the graphics (5.9) which is expected. The rest of the specs are in the high 6's or low 7's
I recommend working your way through a clean install and getting all the crap off, considering you don't get too much harddrive space with all of the preloaded crap.
I love this laptop, and gave it 4 stars mostly because of the bloatware, and that windows 8 is meh on a laptop without a touchscreen. However, it's certainly a great laptop and the reviews don't do it justice

I went from an Alienware M15X to this and don't regret it. The alienware was really, really bad with battery life and I knew that before I got it. I just didn't realize how often I would start going out to other places where a plug wasn't readily accessible before I got it. I never used the alienware for serious gaming anyway just for software dev. The Samsung Series 9 works great to dev on and the battery life is amazing. I am generally around 8 hours per charge now, which isn't 10 hours, but is still great.
I do not have any problem with the keyboard or the trackpad like other reviewers claimed. There is a side swipe in windows 8 that got annoying but then I just turned it off. I was worried that this only being an i5 processor that running photoshop, aptana, WAMP, eclipse, and many chrome tabs would slow it down. Well, I was wrong. It kept up pretty well with everything that I was doing. If I had a bad experience at one point, it at least wasn't bad enough to stick in my head.
Bad notes: The screen does look a little washed out compared to my alienware. I also really, really wish it had a better screen resolution. But in actuality, I don't even think or notice it at all in my normal daily activities.
I got this thing on amazon for an almost $400 discount because of a free $200 amazon gift card that came with purchasing the laptop, and the laptop was already marked down $200 on sale. I love it especially for its battery life and looks. Processing power though is also good.

Samsung Series 3 NP350E7C-A01US Intel 3rd generation Core i7-3630 Deals

This review is from: Samsung Series 3 NP350E7C-A01US Intel 3rd generation Core i7-3630QM 2.4GHz ~ 1TB ~ 8GB ~ 17.3" HD+ LED (1600x900) ~ DVD+/-RW ~ BlueTooth 4.0 ~ WiDi ~ Windows 8 (Personal Computers)
bought this laptop to help me edit photos I take as I am learning photography. I needed a laptop that could handle a photo editing program, such as PhotoShop, and lots of storage for saved photos. So far, it's working great for this purpose, with one exception: Windows 8 does not recognize .dat files of online photo editors such as Pixlr or Picmonkey, so that's a negative. Since I am use to Windows Vista, I was a little worried about getting a laptop with the new Windows 8 system, but once you get used to the vastly different arrangement of everything, it's pretty cool and easy to use. Overall, I am very satisfied.

The graphics are very vivid, programs run fast, and very silent!
I was really surprised with this laptop since it is not expensive but has so many strength.

Early 2013 I searched for exactly this configuration: 17", 8gb, core i7. The general starting price was $900. Not only is the Samsung 3 a bargain at $700, the remaining stats are almost to good to be true, 2.4ghz, 1tb, and so on.
My first impression usng the laptop was how fast it booted and how quiet it was. So far I haven't seen any issues installing the programs I usually use. It's exactly the laptop I wanted.
Then there's Windows 8: at first I hated it, but after delving deeper into it, the new possibilities are definitely intriguing. There are two "realms" in the new windows, the desktop which is the old interface and the app world, which is the new interface. Switching back and forth is cumbersome at first, and the default configuration has you falling out of desktop and into the metro interface quite often. But you can work pretty much the way you used to in Windows 7 by 1) learning the shortcuts, e.g.windows key+d returns you to desktop mode. 2) select desktop applications as default programs for common filetypes (pdf, jpg, mp3, avi, etc) - if a metro app is the default you leave desktop mode when opening the object and don't return to desktop when closing. 3) I haven't done this yet, but you can also install one of a number of programs that reinstates the start menu and disables the charms menu. Though the start window is different than the old start menu, the search available there appears to me to do the job, so I will try it out some more before making this move.
What some people might miss: this dvd drive does not support blu ray, and the touch pad does not have an external switch to enable/disable.
All in all, a dream configuration at this price. I'm beginning to like Samsung.

Samsung ATIV Book 5 14-Inch Deals
By Woodrow Benson (McLean, VA USA) -
This review is from: Samsung ATIV Book 5 14-Inch Touchscreen Ultrabook (Mineral Ash Black) (Personal Computers)
I liked the ATIV Book 5 enough that when I had to return it because of a minor issue I got a replacement rather than a different laptop. (Hats off to Amazon for remarkable service; they sent me a new one even before I returned the old one, so that I wasn't without a computer.) This unit has an excellent keyboard and touch pad, plus good battery life. It's also speedy and the build quality seems good. On the negative side, the screen is not as crisp as some others--look elsewhere if you're a video fanatic--and the black finish is a real fingerprint magnet. It's reasonably nice looking but not as cool as other Samsung laptops.

I bought this computer to replace my old acer netbook and I have been pleasantly surprised by how wonderful this Samsung computer is. I like the 14 inch size, it's not too big or too small but perfect for my needs. The computer is very very light and is also extremely fast. I looked for a touch screen computer that was not too expensive or too heavy and I read a lot of reviews before I chose this one. I am happy that I decided to go for this ultrabook laptop. Although I paid less than $800 for it the computer looks and feels like a high end laptop. I like the great finish, big keyboard, great speakers and the battery lasts for a long long time. Even windows 8 does not feel as bad as other reviewers have said.

Bought this laptop as I liked Samsung products and specs suited my needs, with plans to install Win 7 on it.
But I can't seem to do it. This thing has so many security and recovery things on it I can't boot from my external DVD drive.
In a nutshell, if you like what apple and the icommunity does, go buy one. I bought this laptop because I don't like what i does, did not want, was a PC loyalist, and now guess what? I have purchased my hard earned money for a laptop that does not do what I want it to do. If I wanted a macbook I would've bought a macbook. This is like some shootoff of what I thought a macbook was. Total junk. Apps? Seriously? Online recovery and backup? What?!?!?! NO

I liked the ATIV Book 5 enough that when I had to return it because of a minor issue I got a replacement rather than a different laptop. I bought this for my fiancee. I have a Series 9 (new edition) and love it. Therefore decided to buy this newly upgraded ATIV 9.
I love everything about this laptop; very thin, very lightweight, stunning screen(resolution, colors etc.), lightning fast (takes 1-2 seconds to resume or 5-6 seconds to turn it on).
It might be a little expensive, but I believe that this is the best ultrabook for the price.

This computer is everything I could have wanted and more. The battery life is great, computer is fast and best of all the screen is absolutely beautiful! I didn't think I would like Windows 8, but I ended up really enjoying it and would recommend everyone to give it a chance and you will warm up to it.
Cons: To be hoenst I can't say anything bad about this computer. It looks gorgeous, is fast and is extremely portable.
Would recommend to everyone! 5*****

I haven't bought a laptop in a long time and wanted one under 3 pounds at a reasonable price. I considered a Toshiba Protégé, Asus Zenbook, Acer S5 and a Thinkpad Carbon X1 besides this Samsung model. I ended up choosing the Samsung because of its matte screen and good price. It weighs 2 pounds 7.5 ounces (1120 grams) and the A/C power adapter weights 9.2 ounces (264 grams). Not under 3 pounds but close.
After my initial use I only see one design flaw. The USB 3.0 port is on the left side right next to the power plug. If the laptop is on A/C power, you cannot plug in a normal USB flash drive in the USB 3.0 port at the same time ;( You will need a slim flash drive (no wider than standard USB cables) to have both plugged in at the same time. Hopefully Samsung will make both USB ports 3.0 in the future.
